Dee, I am so sorry to hear of your loss and Robert's passing. Sailing with Robert has been one of the great joys I have experienced. I so looked forward to arrivel in Lake Charles and Robert would get his truck and he and Molly would come on down to the ship to pick me up for a ride about town. Dee I am so truly sorry to hear of Robert's passing and your loss. Being Robert's shipmate aboard Seabulk Power for many years is definitely one of the best memories I carry with me. When the ship was in Lake Charles I always looked forward to climbing into his truck with Mollie by his side for one of our rides around to Lowes or where ever. Robert definitely made a 75 day trip go quicker and fun. Your in my thoughts. Take care. Gus.

I was only able to sail with Robert for a short period of time aboard the Seabulk Trader, but he will definitely be missed. I enjoyed standing a watch with Robert and learning all that I could from him on how to be a good mate. I'll use what he taught me throughout my future sailing career in the years to come. To Dee and the Brantley Family-I express my deepest sympathy for the passing of Robert, my shipmate and friend. I've had the joy of working with Robert for the past seven years onboard the Seabulk Trader. He was a gentleman dedicated and loving to his family, friends, and shipmates and always expressed interest in others. Robert was a hard worker, always ready to lend a hand and offer assistance even for the jobs that no one really wanted to do. He was a role model for young officers and crew and took many of us under his wing to teach us skills of the trade. Nightly ping pong matches onboard will not be the same without our Ping Pong Champion. His infectious laugh, smiling face, storytelling, and big hugs on the day when you need them will always be remembered.

My little brother was a free spirit. He was at his happiest when he was free to travel the sea's or to travel the highway's. I Thank God he had a wife that gave him his freedom to come and go and do as he pleased. At the age of 59 God loved my little brother so much that he truly set him free. Free from the pains and sufferings of this world. Robert is now truly a free spirit. Little brother I will truly miss your smile and laughter but until we meet again, I love you.

Dee, thank you so much for hosting the visitation in Lake Charles. It was nice to meet you and have a chance to say goodbye to Robert. My deepest condolences to you and the entire Brantley family. As a pilot in Lake Charles, I saw Robert's smiling face as I reached the top of the pilot ladder more times than I can count. He was always so pleasant and professional. Even when he was not on watch, he would take time to visit me on the bridge for a few minutes. In reading his obituary, I see he was born only 3 days after me in 1955; that was a good year! He was a great guy and I will miss and remember him each time I board the Seabulk Trader. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Oh! And I enjoyed the cake and coffee last night! Thanks!

I have many fond memories of Uncle Robert from sliding down the side of highway 98 in boxes, car rides in his little green car with the top down, the little gold four leaf clover earrings he bought me for Christmas when I was Eight,the most impressive bar he and my uncle Mark built with beer cans at their bacholor pad on Magnolia, sitting on his back porch with my brother as teenagers,him laying in a hospital bed at my Grandmother's house after a bad car accident sipping out of a Straw with his big smile across his face. He was compassionate, humble, honest, dependable,excepting, but most of all he gave the best and most genuine hugs. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. R.I.P. Uncle Robert

If you are reading this, then you probably knew Robert. I will never get over losing Robert, he gave us so much joy, happiness, and love that can never be replaced. If you became Robert's friend, you were for life, he supported you, you could depend on him never to betray your confidence, and he was always there for you. Robert was not perfect, but as a brother he was close to it. I never was scared to go alone anywhere in Daphne, because anywhere I went, some said " You are Robert's sister right, he is my friend". Believe or not, to this day, they still say this to me. He was one of a kind, and I am so proud to have had him as my brother. I am also so blessed to have Bo and Mark, as brothers and they are also so very special-runs in our Family. Thank you God for my brothers.

It was not possible to be in a bad mood around Uncle Robert. He came into the room with his sly grin and a joke that would make everyone laugh. He had a great sense of humor and a great big heart. Everyone wanted to be around him when he was present. I wish that I had been able to see him more often. He loved his family and was so good to Grandma Evelyn. It's a sad day for me and all the old Daphne Clan of our generation. Robert was one of the Cats, "The Falstaff Cats", our coming of age Daphne Softball team. Uncle Robert was always a bright spot in our family gatherings. Whenever he walked into a room he always brought a smile to peoples faces. His great sense of humor, kind disposition, and the friendliness and love that he showed everyone around him made him a pleasure to be around. From the times of growing up, barefooted on the shores of Mobile Bay, times spent with many friends, sitting at May Day enjoying music; Robert was everyone's brother and friend. Everyone was equal in Robert's eyes and his laughter and pranks filled the lives of so many. High school books filled with great photos and other photos taken freezing great memories forever for those who knew him and loved him best. I feel very privileged to be able to have called him my friend.

He was admired and respected by so many of us onboard the Seabulk Trader. He had an incredible work ethic and was an outstanding role model for many young officers and cadets onboard. Robert Brantley was a good man. Some of don't have a lot of them in our lives except maybe pastors.

I witnessed him from what I saw in his beloved wife, Dee, my friend. She was so happy with him. When their 20th anniversary flew by, she couldn't believe it. She has a heart of gold, so did Robert. He was a faithful husband and father and hard worker as long as I've known them.

Dee enjoyed keeping a lovely home for Robert to come home to from working offshore. She is an exquisite cook and thrilled to Robert's compliments and comments that he'd be crazy to not appreciate her or to leave!

May the Lord bless her for tending to him and him tending to her and his family so well and for leaving such a poignant legacy for others to see to increase our faith in mankind.

God bless and keep and comfort those Robert left behind with these good thoughts. Love, Rosie
