On my wedding night, November 1 2014, my uncle Mike pulled me out of the craze of dancing and mingling with friends and family to look at the moon that night. There was an amazing haze and a perfect ring around the moon, and it was so beautiful, Mike had to be sure I saw it. He told me that this was a sign of his mother, my grandma GG, looking down and being with us that night. It feels like a "God Wink" as my dad puts it, that he was feeling so close to GG that night and that he would bring me out to share that moment. I am blessed to have this memory of him from a very special day, and I'm glad that he was able to see the whole family and be part of some wonderful photos and memories with us. May he rest well, surrounded by those who loved him, and be at peace. Love you uncle Mike!

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was larger than life, even at an early age (he had the tallest girlfriend in school in the 8th grade). French fries and cherry Cokes for breakfast at the diner on Main Street before school. I've missed him for years already and will miss him even more now. Thanks, Mike, for being my friend way back when. Monday, Monday............

Uncle Mike, I will never forgot the admiration I had for you when you were the Chef at White Horse Inn and were in charge of my homecoming meal during high school. I was so proud to say my uncle created a masterpiece for our meal. Mike also created the most fabulous turkey one thanksgiving at mom's. I love you and take comfort that you had wonderful, caring friends in your adopted home in Sulpher, LA.

I have been friends with Mike for several years. He was always courteous, dependable and a man of his word. He will be missed by his friends and family, but will live on in thier memories and hearts. Darrell Murphy
